Every one of us struggles. Each one is broken. Recovery at The Austin Stone is for everyone who is seeking to have God begin to intervene and heal the damage done to them, the wounds they have inflicted on others, and the lies they have believed about themselves. Recovery is a Christ centered program that addresses many issues such as–but not limited to–anger, lust, substance abuse, fear, shame, addiction, codependency, eating disorders, pornography, abuse, homosexuality, and depression. Within the framework of the traditional twelve steps, we seek to encounter Christ, working through Biblical principles, applying these principles to our lives, and allowing God to change and to heal.
Recovery is a safe place to step out of darkness and into the light to allow God’s grace to change our hearts; it is not an easy road but if you are willing to practice rigorous honesty, it is a rewarding one. It is a safe place to share things we have kept hidden with people who are walking similar roads.
Each week there is a time of large group worship that is followed by teaching or testimony or large co-ed open sharing. Following this time, on the weeks there is teaching or testimony, everyone is encouraged to participate in a gender specific small group to share personal struggles and learn from one another within the context of a safe and confidential environment.
